Guanfu Museum was established as the first private museum in China. The museum was founded by Mr. Ma Weidu and established approved by the government in October 30, 1996. The museum has a rich collection of fine porcelain, cloisonné, ancient furniture and carved windows and doors. The main collections in the museum are the over 50 pieces of the porcelains made in the late Ming dynasty. It is a museum that combines the arts appreciation and historical study.
Covering an area of 3,000 square meters, it has several halls including: ancient porcelain, classic Chinese furniture, works of art, oil paintings, classic doors and windows. It is beautifully laid out and the exhibits have explanatory captions in both Chinese and English.
Ancient Porcelain Hall: It displays more than 150 official wares and folk wares from Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty over 1000 years. It was the representative utensils in the period of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Chinese Furniture Hall: Covering an are of 700 square meters, it is divided into 6 exhibition halls such as annatto furniture, red sandalwood furniture, huanghauli wood furniture and door frame furniture etc.
Oil Painting Hall: It exhibits the works of Chinese renowned painters as Chen Yifei, Yang Feiyun, Chen Yanning, Liu Wenjin and Luo Zhongli etc, and more than 10 modern sculptures.
Doors and Windows Hall: Most of the doors and windows exhibited in the hall were made in the regions south of the Yangtze River, and a small part were from the Yellow River basin.
