Silver Fox Cave is located at Xiayingshui Village, Fozizhuang Town, Fangshan District, 65 kilometers west of Beijing. The cave was first developed in 1991 and now is the largest limestone cave complex in North China. The cave is a veritable underground maze with its main cave, branch caves, water caves and dry caves criss-crossing vertically and horizontally.
The cave has developed into a 3,000-meter visitor routes for the public. Hundreds of distinctive sights dazzling your eyes. In the cave, there are numerous stalactites, white stalagmites, grand stone pillars, asbestos, shining stone waterfalls. In addition, rare crystal stone grapes, brilliant stone pearls and glittering calcites are to be seen here. A remarkable amount of various stone flowers are scattered across the cave. The most rare and precious feature is a two-meter-long white limestone structure resembling a silver fox with a cat's head and fox's body, hence the name, Silver Fox Cave. There are various other shapes of wondrous stalactite and glittering and translucent calcite formations, such as stone chrysanthemum, stone pearls, and stone grapes.
Under identification by experts both at home and abroad, it was the first discovered crystal cave in the world. There is a snow-white calcite crystal shaped with cats head and foxes body hanging on the top, so called Silver Fox Cave. The meandering underground rivers penetrate as deep as 106 meters. Tourists can boat on the clear and winding waters. It is asserted that the water is a natural mineral of high quality with many beneficial microelements.
