Jietai Temple (戒台寺)
Located 35 kilometers west of the urban area, Jietai Temple is a Buddhist temple in the Mentougou District. It is oriented east and west with an area of 11 acres. Constructed in the Sui Dynasty (581-618), it is one of the oldest in Beijing. It is famous for the largest Buddhist ordination terrace existent in China.
Wofo Temple (卧佛寺)
Wofo Temple is located inside Beijing Botanical Garden. It was the royal temple of Mahayana Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty and takes its name from a reclining Buddha statue inside.
Fayuan Temple (法源寺)
Initially built in 645 in the Tang dynasty by Li Shimin (Emperor Taizong) and later rebuilt in the Zhengtong era (1436–1449) of the Ming dynasty, the temple occupies an area of 6,700 square meters and contains a large number of cultural relics, including sculptures of ancient bronzes, stone lions, as well as gilded figures of the three Buddhas.
Xiangjie Temple (香界寺)
Xiangjie Temple is located northwest of Longshantang, Pingposhan, West Mountain, Beijing and is the largest temple in Badachu Park. The temple was constructed in 758 and renovated in 1425, 1678 and 1748.
Lingguang Temple (灵光寺)
Built during the Tang Dynasty over 1200 years ago, located at the foot of Cuiwei Mountain, Lingguang Temple is the most important of the eight temples. Lingguang Temple enshrined and worshiped a pure copper statue of the founder of Buddhism, Sakyamuni, which was given as a present by the leading monk of Thailand.
