Mount Tianyun (Chinese:天云山) literally means Sky and Cloud Mountain, which seems to demonstrate that the mountain is so high that it can reach the clouds of the sky. Mount Tianyun is situated in Pinggu District, about 140 km away from downtown Beijing. The scenery of the mountain is not only magnificent but also gracefully gorgeous and consists of steep cliffs, deep valleys, towering peaks, winding paths, grotesque rocks and dense forests.
The main peak of the mountain is as high as 1,149 meters above sea level. If you stay a while on the peak, you can look up to the sky and enjoy the combined beauty of the blue and the white. If you look afar, you can view the splendid summer snow of Lingshan Mountain in the east and the watchtowers of the Great Wall. The double sections of the Great Wall meanders 2,500 meters from the west to the east. In this area there are patches of white birch woods, lush pine trees, fragrant flowers and chirping birds. They themselves have formed a scroll of poetic Chinese landscape painting.
