Where is the scenic area named Shidu? It is not near downtown Beijing but is located in a place surrounded by mountains and waters in Shidu Town, Fangshan District, Beijing. The distance between it and downtown Beijing seems a little bit long, but the activities you can enjoy in Beijing summer are nothing but enjoyable and cool.
The highest peak of the mountains here is 1210.8 meters above sea level, followed by a mountain peak named Bull Horn Mountain with an altitude of 1176.94 meters. The lowest point of it is Zhangfang, only 84.2 meters above sea level, and the scenic area is the only karst landform with a large scale in northern China. Now it is an AAAA scenic spot and a China National Geological Park. This river valley formed because the branch Juma River of Daqing River cut the north end of Taihang Mountain ranges, and whole range of the valley stretches about 20 km. Since there were 10 ferries for people to cross the river in history, this river valley was finally given the name Shidu, which literally means Ten Ferries. A great many wildlife and plant species can be found here and this area also serves as a nature reserve for wild water lives.
This is the largest karst stone forest valley in northern China. It is a landform of grotesque mountains and waters, sheer cliffs, high peaks and emerald woods, and beautiful stones and deep caves. People in China repute it as the “stunning view of northern China”, “fairyland on earth” and “paradise outside the real world”. It is an amazing gallery in nature and is of great value for each and every travel. In addition, lots of activities and parks have been set up in the area, including Bungee jumping platform, Juma Entertainment Park, Badu Tianlu Mountain, Liudu Green Wave Park and Lonely Mountain Village.
