Originating from Chicheng in Heibei Province, the waters of Baihe River were diverted to build Baihebao Reservoir. The river running through Huairou District and connecting with the big valley of Miyun Reservoir in Miyun Disrict. Thus, there is a natural valley hidden in the mountains between the two reservoirs, known as the “100 mile’ gallery”. Steep roads and villages abound, making the area suitable for expeditionary travel.

Highlights:

1. The Upstream of Baihebao Reservoir: Located in Chicheng, it has pleasant clear water and there are meadows in the valley. The scenery is very beautiful that horses and cows are browsing on the grass.

2. 100 Miles’ Gallery: The river runs through the reeds and woods, while wild ducks and other waterfowls are swimming inside and colorful dragonflies beating their wings on the surface. The most notable highlight is the sea of sunflowers that blossom in August and September.

3.Baihe River Valley: The river enjoys a right depth that not only it is fit for paddling but having a barbecue, picnic or rafting.

Bus Line: Take Bus No. 916 at Dongzhimen Station and get off at Huairou, then transfer to Bus No. 862 (Outer Ring) and get off Yujiayuan Station, then transfer to Bus No. 936 heading to Tanghekou and get off at Qiananling Station, and finally take taxi to the reception of Baihe Valley.

Self-driving Route: Drive alongside Jingcheng Highway and steer out of Huairou Exit, then keep driving straight to Kaifanglu Roundabout (Fengning, Yanqi Lake direction), and continue driving alongside 111 National Road going up the mountain. Passing through two tunnels and keep driving straight, and turn right after passing four leaf-shaped buildings. Continue driving alongside the lane and turn right after catching the sight of three stone pillars. Cross the bridge and drive straight to the destination.
