Although Beijing is considered a dry land, amazing undersea worlds can still be found in Beijing. In this summer, these places cannot only entertain children but they can also amaze the eyes of adults who have so much attachment to wildlife. More importantly, touring the undersea worlds can make you cool in the searing hot environment.

1.The Pacific Ocean Undersea World

The Pacific Ocean Undersea World (太平洋海底世界), located beneath the CCTV Tower, mainly exhibits oceanic creatures, including sharks, coral fish, freshwater fish and penguins and also features an undersea tunnel, seal performance, human-shark dance and so on.

Performance time:

From Monday to Friday: mermaids, penguins, seals, and human-shark dance.

Saturday, Sunday and other holidays: more performances of these kinds

Admission: adult: 85 yuan + 15 yuan (seal performance); children’s ticket (under 1.4 meters): 55 yuan including seal performance (no discounts for students)

Getting there:

1.Take Subway Line 1 and get off at Gongzhufen Station (公主坟, Exit B), walk 530 meters north to Gongzhufeng North, get on Bus No. 374, Yuntong 102/103 (运通102/103) and get off at Yuyuantan West Gate (玉渊潭西门) and walk 690 meters to the undersea world.

2.Take Bus No. 374 to Hangtianqiao South (航天桥南站) and walk 670 meters to the undersea world.

2.Gongti Fuguo Undersea World

Gongti Fuguo Undersea World (工体富国海底世界) is the first ocean aquarium and houses coral fish, sharks, ray fish, eels, lobsters, rouge fish and Chinese sturgeon. Another of its outstanding features of it is the long undersea tunnel in it. Walking in the tunnel is indeed a fascinating experience.

Admission: 75 yuan/person; 50 yuan for children under 12 years old; free for those under 1 meter.

Opening hours: summer: 8:00 - 20:00; winter: 8:30 - 18:30; Monday to Thursday: 9:00 - 18:00; Friday to Sunday: 9:00 - 20:00

Getting there: Take Bus No. 431, 3, 113, 115, 16 to Beijing Worker’s Stadium and walk 840 meters to the undersea world.

3.Beijing Aquarium

Beijing Aquarium (北京海洋馆) is located north of Changhe River in Beijing Zoo and covers an area of 120,000 square meters with the building area reaching up to 42,000 square meters. It is a comprehensive aquarium which integrates appreciation, science and education, entertainment and commercial meetings. The special features of the aquarium includes the Jungle Wonders (雨林奇观), Stylish Beach (风情海滩), Undersea Tour (海底环游), Bailing Little Town (白令小镇), Chinese Sturgeon Hall (国宝中华鲟鱼馆), Whale and Dolphin Bay (鲸豚湾) and Ocean Theater (海洋剧院).

Ticket price: 130 yuan for each adult; discount ticket: 70 yuan for children and teenagers under 18 years old (not including 18); free ticket: children under 1.2 meters, but each adult should accompany the children after buying an adult ticket and each adult who buys one ticket can only bring two children with into the aquarium. If you have more than two children, you must buy discount tickets for your third, fourth or more child.
