Set back from the road on Dongzhimenwai Dajie, Paddy O'Shea's has a traditional dark wood interior, scores of tall tables with high bar stools, a distinctly smoky, raucous atmosphere and all the trimmings you’d expect to find in a pub back home (if for you ‘back-home’ is a place that is typically called county-something).

With five TVs poised to screen football and rugby matches, a large pool table and two dartboards to boot, expect Paddy O’Shea’s to get crowded when there’s a big match on. What’s more, the venue also has a second floor complete with raised DJ booth perfect for rowdy parties.

Paddy O'shea's drinks prices remain fair whilst warding off those undesirable underage drinkers with 500ml glasses of Stella Artois going for 35 RMB and pints of Guinness for 50RMB . And, not wanting to leave people with empty stomachs, Paddy’s also serves food, and the extensive menu contains both traditional pub food and more modern gastro-pub concoctions.

Paddy O’Shea’s is worth noting because it’s not another glitzy bar, dingy hole-in-the-wall student vomitarium or thunderously loud club; but a solid watering hole where those who are either homesick–or simply sick of Sanlitun–can have a great night out in comfortable surroundings.
