Belonging to the subdistrict office of West Changan Avenue, Lingjing Hutong is a east-west direction hutong in Xidan Area. From east to west, there are Fuyou Street , West Huangchenggen Street, and Xidan North Street, and the T shaped crossing is intersected of the eastern side and Fuyou Street, and the west side connects with Picai Hutong.
During the Ming Dynasty, Lingjing Hutong was divided into two parts. It was bound by West Huangchenggen South Street in Qing Dynasty. As Lingji Palace located in the eastern section, it was gradually read as Lingqing Palace and Linqing Palace, hence named LInqing Hutong and the western section was named Ximi Hutong. After 1911, entering the period of the Republic of China, the eastern section was renamed Huangchenggen, while the western section was renamed Lingjing Hutong. After 1949, the two sections were collectively known as Lingjing Hutong. Around the year of 1992, it was broadened and about 32.18 meters at its widest point.
Nowadays, Lingjing Hutong is a wide and straight passage that connects the hustle and bustle Xidan North Street in the west and solemn Fuyou Street in the east. It has become a broad road forming part of several bus routes.
