Since Antonio Najarro became director of the Spanish National Ballet (BNE) in 2011, he has staged four productions in which he blends the traditional repertoire with new creations. Rigorous yet friendly, his directing style ensures quality in all his works, having made the Spanish National Ballet synonymous with excellence and turned Spanish dance into one of the most iconic artistic expressions of our country.

Alento & Zaguán, the company's latest production, is a turning point in Najarro's career. It is his most personal show, combining a series of flamenco scenes (Alento) and a repertoire with a character of its own (Zaguán) – a twofold artistic proposal that means a turn in aesthetics and style.
Alento inspired by the score by composer and guitarist Fernando Egozcue, provides an overview of the Spanish classical dance.
Zaguán with music composed by flamenco guitarist Jesús Torres, is a place of transition, a flamenco ballet where several of the young artists of the current scene, Mercedes Ruiz, Lupi and Marco Flores, show their language and style and there will be a magical moment with Blanca del Rey and her 'Solea del Manton'.
