Between the clusters of souvenir shops and ear-aching bars in Houhai, you’ll find a rare slice of class: Guangfu Museum Shop.
On the lower level, you’ll find cute and colourful Kung Fu cat mugs, Wild Rose and Honeysuckle hand cream by British designer Cath Kidston and fragrant soaps such as strawberry, green tea and turmeric from the Guangfu range.
Other knickknacks such as journals, hair bands, chopsticks and tea sets are all on offer. On the main floor, the most interesting offering is the fabric stall, selling rolls of printed cotton and soft silk from Japan, Korea, the UK and the US starting from 100RMB a metre and rising sharply.
The upper deck also runs as a small teashop, where you can sit beside a window and people-watch below while sipping on tea and snacking on cake.
Overall, we love this place for its range of modern yet traditional Chinese-themed accessories. If you’re looking for a place to pick up a gift or an interesting Beijing keepsake, you can’t beat Guangfu Museum Shop.
