Sibling design team Alia and Jamil Juma are back in the capital, showcasing their new travel-inspired wears inside the Four Seasons Hotel.

New York-based label Juma has been a favourite of ours for a while now and we’re glad to see its funky prints have found a home inside the luxe interiors of the Four Seasons. Six floors up, nearby the spa reception, is Juma’s first permanent retail space in China.

Inspired by their travels around the world and their unique Indian-African roots, Juma’s psychedelic-yet-chic line of accessories and home décor use bright and bold digital designs extrapolated from images of Nairobi sunsets and traditional Turkish mosaic tiles on their pillows, silk scarves, socks and clutches.

Juma’s new line of accessories, Journey, was co-inspired by their artistic mother. ‘My mom sends us photos of her travels and she sent us one of these beautiful tiled ceilings from a mosque in Turkey... and she also loves to collect shawls and scarves from her travels, so we thought about putting the two together for Journey,’ says Alia.

The pair have been collaborating with the hotel for a year now. The relationship began when Alia and Jamil added a splash of colour to the hotel’s décor; they later went on to spice up the hotel’s staff uniforms. Now, with this new permanent space, Beijingers can take a journey with Juma whenever they want.
