As early as Ming and Qing Dynasties, Jietai Temple has become the ideal place of spring outing for successive emperors. The temple is home to ancient tree and famous wood species and exotic flowers and rare herbs especially for lilac, peony, paeonia lactiflora, Beijing mockorange, weigela florida etc., amongst which the most famous was the 20 cloves at 200 years’ old presented by Emperor Qianlong from the Old Summer Palace to the Garden of Everlasting Spring which were undoubtedly the first in Beijing. From April to June, you can appreciate the scenery of spring and experience the Buddhist culture in Jietai Temple.

The Clove is also called the "tree of Buddha", enjoying great Buddhist connotations it is planted in temple. Cloves are cultivated to replace the tree of Buddha in some of the monasteries in northwest China.

The temple was built for clove tree and thrived in clove tree. The pilgrims nowadays are honored to witness the majestic appearance of the "tree of Buddha" and the devoutly religious commonly enjoy flowers and tasting tea under the trees as they comprehend Zen.

Transportation: Take subway line 1 and get off at Pingguoyuan Station, then transfer to take Bus No. 948 and get off at Jietai Temple Stop.

Self-driving: Driving westward along Jingyuan Road and then drive along 108 National Highway for 8 miles.
