1.Olympic Forest Park

The area of the forest park is extremely large but it is not as crowded as the Forbidden City or the Summer Palace. Grasslands can be viewed here and there. Flying a kite in the park or outside it is suitable.

Opening hours: 06:00 - 20:00 from March 15 to November 15; 08:00 - 18:00 from November 16 to March 14

Getting there: Take Subway Line 8 and get off at Olympic Forest Park South Gate (森林公园南门).

2.The Temple of Heaven Park

The Temple of Heaven Park is located in the sout of the capital city of China, covering an area of about 2,730,000 squre meters. It once served as a site for the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties to worship the heavens for good harvests. This park is mainly covered with grass and is very suitable for one to fly kites during the spring season.

Admission: 10 yuan (Novemver - March;) 15 yuan (April - October)

Getting there: Take Subway Line 5 and get off at Tiantan Dongmen (天坛东门).

3. Beijing Exhibition Center Square

The sqaure between Beijing Exhibition Center and the Mcdonald's store in the south is a large square, which is one of the best places for flying kites. Sure, some guys may be playing other games such as skating and skate boarding in the square too.

Getting there: Take any bus that passes Xizhimenwai (西直门外) or take Subway Line 4 to Beijing Zoo (动物园).

4. Beijing Ming City Wall Ruins Park

Beijing Ming City Wall Ruins Park is located in the center of Beijing and is one of the most-visited city parks in Beijing. The pedestrian paths and squares of the park cover an area of about 10,000 square meters, very suitable for flying kites.

Getting there: Take Subway Line 2 and get off at Jianguomen (建国门) or Beijing Railway Station (北京站).

5.Chaoyang Park /Sun Park

Chaoyang Park is the largest city park within the four ring roads of Beijing. Trees inside it are not tall and so it is relatively spacious and suitable for flying kites during the spring season.

Getting there: Take Bus No. 117, 731, 750, 758 or 988 to Chaoyang Park Bridge West Stop (朝阳公园桥西站); or take Bus No. 496, 628, 657 or 753 to Chaoyang Park Bridge South Stop (朝阳公园桥南站).

6. Ming Tombs Reservoir

The most suitable places for flying kites in this reservoir are the area located west of the dam and the place near the second dam of the reservoir.

Getting there: Take Bus No. 845 at Xizhimen (西直门) or No. 912 at Andingmen (安定门);take Subway Line 5 to Tiantongyuan (天通苑) and transfer to Bus No. 643 to the reservoir.
