As the Spring Festival of China approaches, the villages in Miyun District on the outskirts ofBeijingare showing their welcome of the Chinese New Year. Tourists coming to the villages can sit on the earthen beds to make dumplings and Niangao (glutinous rice cake) with the locals and visit the neighborhoods if you want. One of them is Gubeikou Folk Cultural Village (古北口民俗村).
Situated at the foot of theGubeikou Great Walland on the riverside of Chaohe River, Gubeikou Folk Cultural Village is a simple but ancient village where you will find cultural relics of this area. Coming to the village, tourists can make lanterns with the locals together. As night falls, red lanterns will be hung up on each family’s gate.
On the fifteenth day of the first lunar month in Beijing, you will be able to visit the temples and the Great Wall sections to buy the handicrafts.
