Nanhaizi Milu Park is located in Daxing District, south of Beijing, about 14 kilometers from the center of Beijing. Milu, also known as elaphurus davidianus in China. They were originally peculiar to China, but in 1865, a French minister David found that and then he took the Milu to Europe. Wild Milu in China died out long ago. The last Milu were bred in Nanhaizi hunting ground, royalty in Qing Dynasty. In 1900, the Eight Allied Forces harried all the treasures in the park, hence the Milu died out. In 1985, an English marquis returned 20 to China. China highly valued it and established an ecological experiment center especially for Milu.

Nanhai Milu Park is the first Milu Natural Reserve which are of scatter breeding. There are rich common reed, muddy swamp in Nanhaizi. Milu live in such a wonderful environment and undoubtedlythe number of Milu has grown rapidly. Thanks to the government, Nanhaizi Milu Park has been the second largest milu deer park in the world.
