Chaobai River Tourism Resort Zone is one of those thirteen tourism resort zones affirmed by Beijing Municipal Project Construction Committee. As the largest river of the east Beijing, Chaobai River runs through shunyi District by 32 kilometers and forms the water areas sized of 14.8 square kilometers, whose average river breadth is 500 meters and the widest breadth is 800 meters in its watercourse. With the average depth of 2.5 meters, the river way has been established with five sluice gates and eight bridges, including Niulanshan Bridge, Xiangyang Gate Bridge, Fengbo Bridge, Chaobai River Bridge, Henan Village Gate Bridge, Liugezhuang Gate Bridge, Suzhuang Gate Bridge, and Jugou Rubber Dam, which enable Chaobai River to realize five-cascade impoundments and freely adjust the water depth.

The general layout of Chaobai River Tourism Resort Zone has been affirmed by Beijing Municipal Project Construction Committee, and its developing scheme has been approved by experts. The resort covers lands of 89 square meters, aims to construct Chaobai River Tourism Resort Zone into Beijing's largest tourism zone, and integrates diverse functions of sport, recreation, vacation, conference, and so on.

The water area between Niulanshan Bridge and Xiangyang Gate Bridge has been pointed as the water playground by the State Sports Committee. In Mapo, the construction of an internationalized and modernized vacation resort will start up.
