Beijing Arts and Crafts Museum (BACM) with an exhibition scale of 550 square meters, is located on the 4th floor of Gongmei Emporium, which is the first professional arts and crafts museum in Beijing.
The Museum was founded in 1987, and has collected more than 3,000 pieces of fine arts and crafts, including prestigious Chinese traditional arts and crafts such as Jade Carving, Ivory Carving, Cloisonne and Carved Lacquer. It has also collected some handicrafts such as gold filigree inlaid wares, antique porcelains, ancient bronze wares, valued embroidery works, gold lacquers and Chinese paintings and calligraphy.
The white jade Jigong Monk in this museum is designed and carved by art master Wang Shusen. Master Liu Deying who is good at carving flowers and birds, created the coral All the Birds Worship the Phoenix. The well-known agate Dragon Plate can also be found here. Other crafts include the large size pair ivory carving works describing the modern look of Beijing, Beijing’s Old Scenery accomplished in the 1960s and 300 figurines portraying Beijing’s local lives and traditional costumes. The sparkling gold Guanyin sculpture with thousands of hands and eyes is designed by Master Wang Shuwen. Zhao Puchu, the president of the China Buddhism Association who wrote an epigraph “Hong Xiu Pu Yin” for this Guanyin. Master Gao Congli created the wood figure sculpture Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai which is called the Chinese version of Romeo and Juliet. The Flower-Basket Plate which is a three-dimensional lacquer carving work, is created by Master Du Bingchen. In 1984, the Flower Basket Plate was awarded golden medal at Leipzig World Expo in German.
