The Big Wangjing Park is situated in the eastern part of Beijing near a small river. It covers an area of 33.4 hectares, among which the green coverage area is 26.16 hectares, the decoration area is 4.9 hectares and its water coverage is 2.34 hectares. The park features six spots for tourists.
Wangjing Stage (望京台): This stage stands on the 8-meter-high rockery. This stage is a 4-meter-high steel structure and people can view it from afar. There is a legendary story saying that the name of Wangjing was granted by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty.
Old Tree Square (古树广场): This is an important site of this park because the square bears the memory of the past of the villagers. Many old trees have been well-protected up to today. That’s why this square was given its current name.
Good Luck Lake (如意湖): Standing on the Wangjing Stage, you will see the transparent lake water as well as the sparkles of the fountains in the lake. Besides this, the lotus flowers in the lake are also extremely attractive.
Clear Stream Water Channel (清溪水道): The water channel meanders among the huge granites. Decorated by the flowers scattering among the granites, the water channel looks more attractive.
Tree Shade Square (林荫广场): This square consists of 100-plus Chinese scholar trees with dense branches and leaves. It is an ideal place to have a good rest. In summer tourists can also appreciate the colorful flowers at this square.
Healthy Pedestrian (健康步道): This pedestrian is paved with black pebbles and stretches as long as 260 meters. Some people even walk on the path barefooted because these pebbles can massage the sole of a foot. It is indeed a healthy path.
