If you are fond of fashion and ethnic costumes, the Museum of Ethnic Costumes is a good choice for you to develop a better understanding of Chinese traditional ethnic costumes and its traditional handicraft. Hidden away on the third floor of a building in the Institute of Fashion Technology, the Museum of Ethnic Costumes possesses some of the city’s most beautiful exhibits. Aiming to provide a window into ethnic cultures through their garments, the museum showcases the clothing and jewellery of China’s multitude of minorities.

It has gathered substantial ethnic cultural resources, including a rich variety of costumes, fabrics, adornments, batik articles, and embroideries that showcase traditional clothing styles of different ethnic groups, as well as some ancient costumes and fabrics. It has collected over 1000 wonderful costumes including silver trappings of more than hundreds of the Miao ethnic group. This museum has become a teaching and research base that has certain social influence with broad prospect.
