CAFA Art Museum is part of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, designed by Arata Isozaka, and it covers an area of 3,546 square meters, located in the northeast corner of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

Considered the group shape which is an arc shape, the art museum is with curvilinear exterior walls. Covered by Chinese slates, the wall transits to the roof in a fluent curve and forms into a shell shape, like a 3D maneuver dart.

The three entrances are decorated by glass walls. This design makes the building crystal and also meets the light requirement indoors. The outside wall is covered by greyish-green colored slate which matches the main color tone - gray. While from the harmony, we also can find rich colors change and obvious gradations.

Inside the museum, there is no upright in the center so that it ensures a large enough exhibition area. Lighting inside depends on a horizontal section which made by the shell shape. The section forms into a moon-shape daylighting roof so that all the halls can get enough natural light in an environmental way.

The designer Arata Isozaka masters rich design experience of art museum, He has designed 12 art museum, and the representative is the Olympic Games Stadium in Barcelona, Spain.

The inside space design meets various exhibitions requirements. Furthermore, this design is not at the expense of the sense of beauty. The architectural value of this museum ranks in the top standard in the worldwide. For that it must be an art work to be focused by the world.
