No. 1: Yanshan TianchiThere is a 60 km-long twisting mountain road around Yanshan Tianchi, which starts from Chicheng County, Hebei Province to Longqing Gorge Scenic Are, Yanqing County. The scenery along the road is gorgeous with green mountains and a crystal-clear river. There are green trees in summer, and red leaves in autumn. You may drive off down the road listening to the music and appreciating the landscape.

Self-driving Route: Badaling Highway-Yanqing Exit-drive towards the north-drive towards the east until seeing the direction board-turn left at the ancient tower of Yongning Town, then keep driving towards the north-Xinghua Village, Xiangying-Drive down the hill and drive towards the west-drive towards Heiyukou and turn right proceeding up the hill-keep driving for about 20 km after getting over eighteen hairpin bends.

No. 2: GuajiayuGuajiayu Mountain Cottage is located in Pinggu District, where you may find the African maple forest and little cabin crowded with red lanterns. There are peach blossoms in spring, green trees in summer and maple trees in fall. The road within the attraction is narrow and steep suitable for a self-drive. You may invite a few friends and barbecue while watching film in the wild.

Self-driving Route: Drive alongside Jingshun Road and turn left at Guanzhuang Crossroad, then keep driving straight to Guajiayu Village, Yukou, Dahuashan Town.

No. 5: Baihua MountainYou may drive your car all the way up to the top of the mountain. The cement mountain road is paved to the mountain top. You can enjoy your driving while appreciating the surrounding landscape.

Self-driving Route: Drive onto the 6th West Ring and steer out of Jingla Road/G109 (going by Junzhuang Toll Collection), then drive onto G109 for 69.7 km. Then turn left entering onto X009/Huangta Road on which you'll continue driving for 8.1 km, then turn left entering onto X018. Keep driving straight for 7.4 km and the destination is just around the corner.

No. 7: Yongding River Canyon

Yongding River Canyon, also called Youzhou Canyon, is an over 30 km-long cliff road in Beijing down the stream from Guanting Reservoir to Yongding River, which resembles the cliff road in Wangmangling. Since the road is very narrow, the driver must make sure his or her position when encountering oncoming cars because of the steep cliff and narrow lane. Want to find a thrill here? Self-driving Route: Drive alongside G109, and enter onto Zhaiyou Road (Zhaitang-Youzhou) , then keep driving towards Yanhecheng Village-Youzhou Village.

No. 11: Haituo Mountain

I believe many drivers must have challenged Haituo Mountain long, long before my introduction. However, what I’m trying to tell you today in this article is how changeable the mountain road is every time I come. Driving to the top of the mountain, pull over the car and survey the Guanting Reservoir. The mountain road is 35.6 km long in total and there are lots of hairpins during the course. The road condition is very ideal despite there being numerous sharp turns.

Self-driving Route:

Drive alongside Badaling Highway (Beijing-Tibet Highway) and enter onto G110 at Yanqing, then pass by Zhangshanying Town. Turn right and head to Songshan Mountain, then pass by Yanjiaping Yakou. Down the hill and pass by Jiangzhuangzi Village, then turn right and the destination is around the corner.

No. 3: Liushi RoadLiudu Village, connecting to X018 road, is a landscape road, where tourists may breath the fresh air, take a look at the green trees on both sides of the road as well as enjoy themselves driving in the wind.

Summary: Liushi Road is 30 km-long starting from Liudu Village, Laibao Road, Fangshan District in the south and ending at Shibantai Village, G108 National Road in the north.

No. 10: Baihe Canyon

Every driver who loves searching for a thrill knows the mountain road in Baihe Canyon. Driving through the long and narrow cement road with cliffs beside your car and hard-featured rocks above your head, you may realize that you are definitely driving in the sky. The road up to the mountain is twisty and the landscape along the way is gorgeous, especially the hard-featured sandstone which just looks like the topographic features of Zhangjiajie.
