Double Fly will hold the first Double Fly Egg-crushing Tournament at the Today Art Museum April 30 - May 6, 2015. Planned by Fu Xiaodong and supported by the Space Station, the exhibition will hold a series of contest such as the Olympic Truce, symbolic of equity and fairness.
The chicken or the egg was a question raised by ancient sages including the Greek philosopher Socrates and Chinese Confucian thinker Mencius. Double Fly Art Center poses this particular philosophical thesis about the origin of the earth once again. In Greek mythology, the goddess of love was born in an egg. In ancient Indian books, Brahma was born in an egg. Physicists believe that every matters on earth came from the egg with the universe in a big bang. Chinese mythology describes how Pan Gu cracked open the sky and earth, which supports the idea of the universe born in an ovum.
Rather than explaining the origin of most matters in theological method, "egg" is considered as a model with the origin of the universe. Such universal concept emanates from the consanguinity recognition from the early phase involving life's consciousness. Egg is the uterus of everything in chaos. It includes everything and commences everything, from void to being, from zero to infinite.
