Baihebao Reservoir is the very reservoir in Beijing with the highest altitude and is located about 30 kilometers from County Yanqing on the main stream of Bai River. Driving northeast from County Yanqing across the old county, people will see the blue lake laying between mountains when arriving at the Foyeding.

As the third largest reservoir in Beijing, Baihebao Reservoir is on the upstream of Beijing’s drinking water source, which makes it am ideal place to put up a tent and camp out there. By the two sides of the reservoir, there are also large smoke towers and relics of the Great Wall during the Ming Dynasty.

Transportation:

Drive along Jingchang Expressway, get out at Changping Xiguan and then drive towardsMing tombs, turn left at the corner of Changling towards Yongning to Liubingbao. Turn left again at the corner of Silicified Wood National Geological Park until seeing the sign “turning left for Yanshan Tianchi”, then turn left to Baihebao Reservoir.
