Not only does Ikea have a second Ikea store that’s already one of the largest in the world, it is also the anchor tenant and developer of what is currently Beijing’s largest shopping mall that is newly opened in the southern outskirts of Beijing in Daxing district. At over 172,000 sq. meters, the LIVAT megamall stands out from other malls in the city, not only for its size, but for being invested and wholly owned by its own Inter Ikea Centre Group, part of a multi-city project in China, with two other similar megamalls Wuxi and Wuhan.

Completed and opened in late 2014 in time for the Christmas holiday, LIVAT is an impressive feat of engineering and design. It is, after all, developed and owned by Inter Ikea Centre Group. The impressive megamall has over 6,500 parking spaces, more than Shanghai’sHongqiaorailway and airport terminals parking spaces combined. Ikea is the sole furniture retailer and main anchor tenant, along with 3 other anchor tenants inAuchanHypermarket, Suning Electronics, and Jinyi Cinema. LIVAT will also have more than 400 renowned domestic and international brands (H&M, Zara, Forever 21, and Old Navy) and a vast choice of restaurants, nearly 100 in total. Inside the megamall, shoppers will experience a lot of Scandinavian design cues borrowing from Ikea and Scandinavian culture like 108 DALA horse displays all over the shopping center floors. The DALA horse is the national symbol of Sweden, originating in the 17th century in the DALA region of Sweden, standing for hope, love and family values. The megamall has been designed as a true one-stop-destination where guests can complete errands, shop, eat and be entertained in a modern and inviting space.
Getting to LIVAT can’t be any easier. For visitors taking public transportation, it is connected directly to the Xihongmen subway station of Beijing Subway Line 4. Shoppers coming here by car need just to take the South 5th Ring Road or G45 Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway and can find ample parking.
Moms and dads can rejoice when they get to LIVAT. Because Ikea is the main anchor tenant, guests of LIVAT can take advantage of LIVAT Junior, which provides 2 hours of free kids care and entertainment. This will give mom and dad much-needed time alone for shopping and dining.
LIVAT certainly differentiates itself as soon as you step in. The design is not only uniquely Scandinavian, but it is designed with wide concourses and a spacious atrium for visitors searching for a unique airy indoor space to enjoy even when the air outside can be less than desirable.
