Founded by Hui nationality poet and health expert Ding Henian in 1405, He Nian Tang is a time-honored brand in Beijing. It was first located at the west of Luo Ma Shi Da Jie, opposite to Cheng Xiang Hutong and next to Niu Jie, a residential area for the Hui people. Later it moved to Guang Nei Da Jie in Xicheng District and changed its name to Beijing He Nian Tang Pharmacy Company. Recognized as a Chinese“time-honored brand” in 1999, He Nian Tang was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in 2008.

Time-honored Brand

He Nian Tang was founded in 1405, 15 years earlier than the Forbidden City andthe Temple of Heaven, and 125 years earlier than the Temple of Earth. In December 2005, it was awarded the title of “Time- honored Health Cultivation Br and in the Capital”by the state.

Health Cultivation System

The theoretical core of its health cultivation system is regulating primary qi and maintaining harmony, resulting in the harmony between nature and human being.

Health Cultivation Treasury

He Nian Tang has numerous health products. During Emperor Qianlongs reign, He Nian Tang had 516 recorded recipes, and the number increased to 694 later and even more in different future inventories. It can be called to be a health cultivation treasury in TCM.
