The Solano Shopping Complex is unlike most malls around Beijing. The entire complex is huge and the surrounding scenery really takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the Beijing city center. It’s located to the northwest ofChaoyang Park, right along the river that passes through the Liangmaqiao area and embassy district.

Although it’s not located near a subway station, getting to Solano isn’t too difficult. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the Liangmaqiao station of Beijing Subway Line 10. Head east on the main street or follow the river towards Lucky Street. Likewise, there is a free shuttle service that takes you from Exit C to Solano, with departures every 10 minutes.

Once you arrive at the entrance, you’ll feel that it blends high-end extravagance with an open and expansive layout. The buildings and structures of the mall aren’t very high—just three stories high at most—but the entire complex is designed in a huge loop that takes customers inside and out. It’s possible to get to the multiple zones entirely underground, but on the ground level, you’ll have to cross through a dazzling open-air center. In the spring and summer, Solano is a great destination to spend the day. There are tons of restaurants, and many of them offer spectacular views overlooking the surrounding river. Going through the directory will require a good third and fourth look to grasp all the stores and restaurants. Many of the restaurants are part of popular chains from around the city as well as second locations ofSanlitunfavorites. There’s even a multiplex and BHG supermarket to make your visit here last an entire day.
