The Chinese Horse Culture Museum is located inside the Beijing Great Wall Sunshine Valley Horse Club. It is the first museum in China and also the biggest horse culture, horse art, horse spirit and horse history museum in Asia. This museum houses six sections including historical text, sculpture, painting celebrities, professional photography, British and American styles, and Mongolian customs, where thousands of artworks are exhibited.
With thousands years of history, Chinese people, especially those living in the north of China have a very special love and history to horses. The building of the Great Wall aimed to defend against invasions of the ethnic minorities in the northern part of China. The area to the north of the Badaling Great Wall during the Ming Dynasty was originally an enclosure to raise horses. Under such a historical background, the museum was built, covers an area of 2,700 square meters, and collects as many as 1,300 artworks, which exhibits horse culture, horse art and horse spirit in a reasonable way.
Horse culture is a culture that reflects the relations between humans and horses, and it is a branch of human culture, including human’s ideas about horses, horse raising, horse using, horse art, horse sport and other activities.
