The story of famous Peking Opera masterpieceAuspicious Dragon and Phoenixis derived from Chapter 54-55 of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which is adapted by Peking Opera Master Ma Lianliang. It has also become a 'unique drama' of the Ma School. This drama tells that Sun Quan and Zhou Yu make a honey trap, and deceives Liu Bei to cross the river as hostage in exchange for Jingzhou. But this intrigue is seen through by Zhuge Liang. This things turns into self-fulfilling prophecy, and Liu Bei also successfully escapes back to Jingzhou. On Chinese holidays and festivals, people always stage this drama which is praised as 'Auspicious Drama' by the Peking Opera community.
