The headquarters of China Central Television in central Beijing has for years been a laughingstock landmark for the past few years, earning the name "Big Underpants" by locals since the building opened in 2012. At least its architects, builders, and occupants can be proud this time, as it has recently won an award for its unique design.

The CCTV Headquarters building was recently named the "Best Tall Building Worldwide" for 2013 by the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in Chicago. This is a coveted award for skyscrapers, so this is a bright spot among its many criticisms by locals.

The CCTV Headquarters is a 44-story skyscraper on East Third Ring Road, Guanghua Road in the Central Business District (CBD) of Beijing. It serves as the headquarters for CCTV, which was formerly located in Haidian District, to the west of central Beijing.
