1. Lantern Club

This underground Gongti (Workers Stadium) West club was launched by Acupuncture Records, China's premier techno music label. Their DJs have been rocking parties in Beijing forever and this club is homage to four on the floor boom. Two DJ booths and more dance floor space than VIP tables make this a real destination for late-into-the-night dancing, a rarity on Gongti. You'll also see a regular slate of top international DJs roll through here.

This club specializes in underground music, and with a venue that is literally underground, it’s set to make a name for it ... again. This reincarnation of the original Lantern boasts a raised DJ booth, VIP tables along the walls (RMB 1,200+ minimum), a fully stocked bar and a massive dance space. The club has all the requirements for success without quite making the mark. The bathrooms are grungy, and the bartenders weren’t sure what a mojito is. The sound system could also use some work. Still, we’re happy to have Lantern and great electronic music back.

Actual Customer Reviews:

Digging the new layout of the club, it’s really starting to take shape. I'm told that the smaller bar will even be open most nights of the week, with the big one open only for big weekend parties. This will be a great place to chill early evening with cool people, decent prices and of course great music.

Lantern is no normal club I have ever been to. For starters, its underground and the entrance is a giant glowing pyramid, the dance floor is huge and the music is loud enough to make you dance even if you don’t want to. Beijing’s finest techno, minimal and electro club is situated just off of the Workers Stadium inSanlitunand is definitely getting marked down on my map. Lantern retains is exclusiveness by only opening on Friday and Saturday and each week offers Beijing’s party animals a sanctuary for the night, laying down the craziest parties around while feeding you music until dawn. So if you want to taste the finest music Beijing has to offer and you like to party a little bit too much then Beijing finally has the answer, and it begins with an L.
