Speaking of Beijing’s mountains, we shall not forget Mentougou District. The Sacred Mountain (Lingshan Mountain), Baihua Mountain, Zhuaji Mountain, Miaofeng Mountain and other mountains are all wonderful places for your travel. You may arrive in Zhaitang Town of Mentougou District in more than one hour by car. It only takes you less than 10 minutes to Huangling West Village. Cuanbei Scenic Area has one of the most beautiful landscapes amongst Beijing’s natural beautiful attractions.
In the morning you may walk along the little path between the mountains to the deep mountains. To protect the original beautiful environment, modern industry has not been introduced into the town yet. In the fields formed by the mountains and rivers, you can view the ancient paths, ancient villages, ancient temples and natural views. In September this year, the Beijing International Mountain Walking Meeting will be held in this place. The walking path will pass by nearly 20 ancient villages, Grand Canyon of Yongding River, Huangcaoliang, Lingyue Temple, Malanting Headquarters Site and many other attractions. A number of birds’ habitats, mountain grasslands, limestone caves, gorges, rivers, lakes and wetlands are scattered around it.
In this town there are 17 unique Juren (an official title for those who have a relatively high degree about the Four Books and Five Classics in ancient China) Villages and the ancient villages, which date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. They are the typical examples of the village buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the northern part of China.
Nearby Attractions: The Ancient Swing Bridge Castle opposite the town was originally built in the Ming Dynasty and has been well-protected through today.
Dining and Accommodation: Folk cultural families in the Ancient Swing Bridge Castle offer food and drinks, for only 180 RMB per day.
Driving Routes: Exit at the 24th Exit of Jingcheng Express (Simatai Exit), turn right, head to Songcao Road and enter Xichengzi Yaoqiaoyu Village.
Accommodation: There are farmhouses in the scenic area. But they have different prices in terms of their different kinds of rooms. In addition, Zhaitang Village, a star-rated hotel, is located outside of the scenic area.
Transportation: By Bus: Walk west for 150 meters at the exit of the subway Pinguyuan Station, and get on Bus No. 929 to Cuandixia Village. Two round trips a day.
