The National Ballet of China (NBC), an excellent ballet company with the best dancers, will be performing the classical balletSwan Lakeat the opera house of the NCPA on August 29 and 30.

The NBC, known in China as the Central Ballet Troupe, was founded on December 31, 1959. Headquartered in Beijing, it has been performed at the Tianqiao Theater, which was built in 1959 and renovated in 2001. This theater is one of a handful of such theaters in China that specialize in ballet and opera performances.

The NBC has toured internationally, performing Chinese ballets, Western ballets, modern ballets, and modern dances. Many NBC dancers have won gold, silver and bronze medals at various international ballet competitions.

The classical balletSwan Lakeis a bright pearl on the art crown of ballet, winning the most favors from ballet lovers all over the world. In 1876, Tchaikovsky created the immortal music forSwan Lake. In 1895, performed by Imperial Russian Ballet and co-directed by Petipa and Ivanovo, the ballet successfully debuted at Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia.
