In June, 2012, 'Li Liuyi • Made in China' dramatic plan kicked off. Director Li Liuyi heads his creative team to stage three ancient Greek theme works Antigone, King Oedipus the King, Prometheus Bound and the Tibetan epic King Gesar (Part 1-3). The director wishes to share with the audience the practical significance of these six works in the contemporary cultural environment, in a bid to achieve the cross-cultural drama practice and exploration, regain dramatic person's attitude and responsibility for the world and contribute to a wide range of cultural sharing, and complete the passing of life experience and the extension of concept of drama.

Oedipus the King is the second work of 'Li Liuyi • Made in China'. Li Liuyi Drama Studio has united outstanding artists to go back to the history, return to the "human" themselves and go all out to build this classic ancient Greek tragedy with a humble attitude.

Oedipus the King is the work of the ancient Greek tragedian Sophocles, who created in 403 BC. The drama was hailed as a model in the dramatic art by Aristotle. In order to quell domestic plague, according to the will of God, King Oedipus looks for the murderer who killed his own father, married his mother and had the children with her. Finally he finds out that the murderer is himself. To defend his motherland from disaster, he stabs out his eyes and leaves the home to wander the earth alone.
