Huangmei Opera The Disguised Consort Prince is a legendary costume drama and still a classical repertoire on the stage. Originally known as Shuang Jiu Ju, this rare play of Huangmei opera was only popular in Qianshan and Yuexi, later it was adapted by Wang Zhaoqian (famous dramatist of Anqing, Anhui Province) according to oral statements of folk actors. The opera was debuted successfully in 1958. And in the following year it was played by the famous artist Yan Fengying for hundreds of times in Hefei, Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou, etc. Meanwhile, it was made into a color theatrical film, causing a tremendous sensation, hence it became a renowned classic Huangmei opera. In addition, this play was also adapted as Ping Opera and Yue Opera, etc.

Feng Suzhen is betrothed to Li Zhaoting since childhood, whose family become decline later.
