The newly constructed Terminal 3 was designed by master architect Norman Foster, who also designed the Hong Kong airport. Experts commend Terminal 3 for its outstanding design and its world-class architectural features. Coupled with the latest technology systems, Terminal 3 is among the world’s most advanced airports.
The roof of Terminal 3 T3B is a hyperboloid shape, as if in flight. From north to south it’s about 958 meters long and is about 775 meters wide from east to west. Its projected area is approximately 110,000 square meters, and the roof has a top height of 42 meters (calculating from the bottom of the building as 0.00). The terminal’s corridors and main junction are all integrated to maintain the same temperature, and the terminal roof’s steel structure is divided into three parts.
This feat of architecture covers a very large area, and it was a lengthy process to construct the large, triangle –shaped, steel mesh structure, which is known for its architectural novelty and unique shape.
