Everything I have done here has been focused on being traditional Chinese or at least having some form of traditional roots so it was time for a change.
Not every Chinese person will shop at a hutong or some side street shop where everything is made locally, some have to go to other places so my father and I went out to Wangfujin Street down by Tiananmen Square.
The subway stop drops you off inside of a huge mall, and this mall was probably the most impressive I have seen in terms of its products. I have never seen so many famous designer names all in one conglomerated location.

You needed a bag? You can get every designer. Shoes? Sure, what size are you? Clothing? Name the style. Not being a huge shopper myself I normally wouldn't be so impressed, however, I literally saw every name that I have ever heard of and then some. Making our way out of the mall we walk out to the main road and next to the mall is the famous Wangfujin Street.
There were stores everywhere it was something right out of what you would see in Fifth Avenue in New York! The road is blocked for cars so it is only shoppers for quite a long distance walking in and out of shops, some with bags and some without. The selection of things you could buy and stores was quite impressive, anything you needed from a New York shopping spree they had.

I met a nice couple wanting to practice their English with me so we talked for a little while and before we left asked if we could stop by and check out their artwork they were putting on display soon and maybe buy a piece.
We declined and continued our journey into the massive bookstore. In the store I shopped, found a book or two that I found interesting and even got a lesson in Chinese calligraphy from just about every person who walked by when I was attempting it!
After the bookstore we passed the popular Nike store that many people go to if they need to buy some new shoes and various other clothing boutiques. Also workers were promoting the store they worked for as they handed out fliers and free samples. In the back corner of the street are a few tourist shops for if you want to find a T-shirt or something from your trip and a few small cell phone companies.

Once we reached the end of the street we turned around and then realized how impressive it was.The walkway is filled with people from different walks of life shopping, the architecture remained having a slight Chinese background, and in the distance you can see towers of buildings from various parks. I think before I leave I will have to return to find some people souvenirs.
