The Confucius International Youth Hostel is a completely preserved Chinese traditional rectangular courtyard that is a great place to stay during your visit into the city.It is located in the alleyway protection zone in Beijing.
Here you will enjoy immersing yourself in the traditional culture of Beijing. The Lama temple is only two minutes' from this youth hostel and is a mere three minutes to the directorate of the Imperial Academy, which at one point was the highest educational administration in feudal China.
It is located in the center of the national key courtyard area, which is a protected area of the DongCheng District. The Confucius Youth Hostel is a home away from home for international and domestic backpackers and self-help travelers who love to see remnants of the old Beijing.
This hostel is near the Wudaoying Hutong, which is a a lively alley that has seen a slew of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques open in the past year. Rooms here are basic but a good size (bigger than at the nearby Beijing Downtown Backpackers Accommodation Hostel). They come with squeaky-clean tile or faux-wood floors and separate bathrooms.
There's little decor to speak of for each room. It is simply just new beds with crisp white duvets and plain walls. But the sunshine streaming in during the day and the daily sounds of hutong life make for a cozy environment. The hostel itself is a two-story converted courtyard. Public spaces are done in traditional Chinese fashion.
Chinese scenes or flowers are replete throughout the hostel and wooden beams and pillars have shiny coats of red paint. The best rooms are on the second floor though. They may be a bit cramped for taller guests, but the sloping roofs with exposed natural wood beams are a step up from the bare walls and ceilings in first-floor rooms.
The hostel doesn't have an outdoor balcony, but indoor verandas on the second floor look down into the central courtyard.Pick this place and you'll be a stone's throw from the Lama Temple and the Beijing subway. We recommend that you book your reservations in advance.
