It’s no surprise The Westin Heavenly Spa has won a host of awards – the attention to detail here is incredible, and raises this well above the level of most spas. You’re invited to place your worries and concerns in a ‘burden basket’ before entering the spa, and finish your ‘journey’ with delicious violet-infused chocolates.

The spa is focused on elevating the five senses, and the six spa rooms and two suites (named after the seven pillars of well-being) are all beautifully designed with great touches, from rainforest showers with coloured lighting to vast infinity bathtubs and ‘light therapy’ in the steam room.

This is the only spa in Beijing that offers a 60-minute butterfly massage (700RMB plus 15 per cent service charge), which incorporates a combination of Thai, deep tissue and sports massage techniques to improve blood circulation, flexibility and energy levels. The 60-minute ‘roller-ssage’ (700RMB) is also exclusive to Westin, where warm-semi precious stones are applied to the muscles to relieve aches and pains.
