According to the Municipal Government’s Road Traffic Safety Laws, foreigners must hold a Chinese vehicle drivers license if they wish to drive vehicles on Chinese soil. To obtain a Chinese driver's license, applicants must fit all of the eligibility requirements. Such requirements include: the minimum driving age required under Chinese law, be in good health and attend mandatory training sessions regarding traffic and pedestrian related laws. There is also an exam at the end of the training session which foreigners are required to pass. The exam will be given by the Beijing Public Security Bureau of Traffic Management Authority. Foreigners who have a valid foreign driver's license can go directly to the Traffic Management Section of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau request an application. Inquiring applicants should bring the following forms:
(1) A motor vehicle driver's license application form.
(2) Originals and copies of applicants' passport and residence certificates.
(3) Health certificate issued by an approved hospital.
(4) A notarized Chinese translation of the valid foreign driver's license.
(5) A four one-inch color photographs with background.
