Despite the tiny size, this Central Park whiskey bar packs a big punch. With room for about 28, Ala House is more neighborhood hangout than destination spot.

The soft jazz melds perfectly with the 1920s décor, and the theme carries through to the simple cocktails and selection of whiskeys. Starting at RMB70, the cocktail list focuses on classics. The Old Fashioned (RMB70) was especially delightful. With around 100 single malts, scotches and bourbons, the real draw is variety. Whiskeys start at RMB60 for your average blends, but expect to pay closer to RMB100 a pour for more exotic imports.
