On Sept. 22, 2001, the first boutique street in Beijing was open --- for the city's women trend followers only. Located within the Lufthansa business district which is home of many embassies, it is jointly invested by HK Viction Group Ltd. and a local investment and management company.

The Ladies' Street, as it is called, has been a trend-setter both in what it sells and in how it sells. Identifying itself as provider specializing in women's apparel and cosmetics, its revolutionary business model was soon copied. However, this did not last long. Similar streets providing nothing but bad-positioned, low-end goods in uncomfortable shops failed on the market soon. And their pioneer, Ladies' Street, was on the brink of depression.
Recently the idea of "offering the best for women" has liven the street. The new street will have 700 boutiques to replace the existing 1100-odd vendor booths, which will be categorized into three grades labeled "gold", "silver" and "copper". There will be "streets in the street", where sections will be given to imports and exports, fashions, and specials in Hong Kong and South Korean style. The number of boutiques, 700 is some 20 times as many as that in any other apparel market in Beijing. Everything here caters for women consumers, from higher market goods and more comfortable environment to various and fashionable choices for women.
The new Ladies' Street not only looks feminine, but also sounds feminine. Shopping information is broadcast in Chinese and English here, alternating with music. Someone says even the music is "for women".
Shoppers, mostly women of course, can also relax themselves in the adjacent flowers market. But if you feel like sitting down and chattering and eating, why not have something in the gourmet street just a few walks away?
An array of restaurants by the Ladies' Street offer a variety of foods. As they are so close to the Ladies' Street, it is called "gourmet street for Ladies' Street". Many consumers have very happy experience on the cuisine here.
Even food here seems for women. Different local styles of foods are served here, with flavors of Sichuan, Canton, Hunan, Hangzhou, Xinjiang, plus foreign flavored restaurants such as Japanese and Korean restaurants. There are also teahouses and caf?§|s. Offices surrounding the street can entertain their business guests in medium or luxury restaurants. You can also find something easy for your leisure time. Spending time and money on the street, girls find they would like to spend more there --- for a coffee and snacks which are also lovable

Lady Street (Nu ren jie) is located not far from the Lufthansa Centre. While one floor is aimed entirely at women, there are also large sections of plants, gardening supplies, a fish market and a flower market. On the women's floor there are hundreds of stalls selling all fashions of women's clothes, shoes and jewelry. As always in China, compare prices and bargain! You can get manicures and pedicures as well as massage and other beauty treatments. There are plenty of cafes on the street to enjoy a Chinese style lunch or have a cold drink. You can also get western style sandwiches and coffee in nearby restaurants.Operation of the street covers clothing, general merchandise and shoes and hats, and mainly includes items imported from Guangzhou, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as other international fare. Especially the clothes in South Korean and Japanese style are very popular in Women Street. It is believed to be the place that you can find anything you might want.Bus Route: 405, 416, 421, 659, 942 (get off at Maizidian Xijie Stop)
