Gulou dajie used to be Beijing’s oldest commercial center, the merchants and the bustling crowds gather on both sides of the street; the dignitaries and heroes’ high residential compound and the ordinary people’s simple but elegant residences gather in the alley.

The ancient capital’s texture is clearly visible under the green trees. There are 242 stores enter in succession including many time-honored brands such as Wonton Hou, Wuyutai, Neiliansheng and Donglaishun. The stores are simple and elegant standing shoulder to shoulder, many local person and tourists have come by its fame, and they stroll down this street and do not want to leave.

On both sides of the street, there are many Beijing’s old Hutong, including the famous Nanluoguxiang and Basha Hutong, they are extending to all directions. There are also many unique boutiques and special places to eat.

There are 36 video game stores in total, they are specialized in the sale of PSP, PS2 and game software as well as cartoon models, the owners of these stores are young man about 20 years old.

Besides, there are sixteen musical instruments store which are scattered on the street, their density is so high that the street can also be called the musical instrument street.
