Qixi Festival or Chinese Valentine’s Day, a Chinese festival on the seventh day of the 7th month on the Chinese calendar, celebrates the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese mythology. It falls on August 28 this year.

In celebration of the Qixi Festival, China Post will issue a special stamp on that day. The stamp is titled Magpie, which is the matchmaker for the lovers in the mythology.
In the aesthetic Gongbi style in Chinese painting, the Magpie stamp displays a couple of magpies who show love to each other on a plum tree, symbolizing lovers of the Qixi Festival. In Chinese folklore, magpie is the envoy of love and plum is the sign of auspiciousness. Both mean good luck and happiness in Chinese culture.
The price of one stamp will be 1.2 yuan ($0.18). Stamp collecting enthusiasts can buy this stamp from any branch of the China Post on that day.
