Forty Scenes of Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden' Culture Exhibition was held at the National Library of China on April 28. The exhibition filled a total area of 2,000 square meters, including the 1, 100-square meter Hall 3 as well as the 500-square meter Hall 4.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a reproduction of the famous painting "Forty Scenes of Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden". The full-scale reproduction utilized the same materials that had been used in the initial painting.

According to historical records, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty ordered the most famous court painters to produce the painting, and it took 11 years to finish. On the left edge of the painting writes a poem written by Emperor Qianlong himself and on the right lie the paintings from the 40 scenes.
In 1886, this valuable painting was taken to France and presented in front of French Emperor, Napoleon III, and was housed inside National Library of Paris thereafter.
Hall 4 is loaded with bibliographic information regarding the Three Hills and Five Gardens, the majority of which were destroyed during the Second Opium War. Modern digital technological innovation and 3-D digital virtual technology are employed to reproduce the landscapes of these cultural relics.
