Japanese restaurant is Ippudo coming to Beijing. Ailing from the ramen capital, Hakata in Kyushu, Japan, Ippudo opened on 16 October 1985, and has since become the most popular ramen restaurant in Japan.

Its founder, Shigemi Kawahara, was crowned Ramen King in 2005 and holds the honor in the Ramen Hall of Fame after winning the championship three times in a row between 1995 and 1998, on TV Champion Ramen Chef.

The newly opened branch in Beijing’s Kerry Center features Ippudo’s signature noodles. The most notable is Shiro (32 RMB), a kind of fine noodles boiled with broth, roast pork, half-cooked egg, nori, fungus, and green onion. Special Sapporo Miso Ramen (48 RMB) features savoury chicken soup and miso noodles.

Apart from ramen, the Ippudo in Beijing boasts all kinds of Japanese snacks such as chashaojiaobao, steamed bun stuffed with barbecued roast pork, salad sauce, and lettuce, and deep-fried Chicken Tartar Sauce, which is very popular those days.
