Covering an area of about 8,700㎡, it is the most exquisite garden in Beihai Park. It was originally an ordinary official room in the Ming Dynasty. In the 24th year of the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1757), Jing Xin Zhai (then called "Jing Qing Zhai") was built in the expansion of the "Western Heaven Realm". It was also known as "Qianlong Small Garden". The study leans mountain in the east, a temple in the west and faces water in the south. There are pavilions, corridors, stone bridges, ponds, rockery and halls in the garden. The architecture not only features the magnificence of northern gardens, but also the small and exquisite taste of Jiangnan gardens.
