For home use, tangerine peels can be made from regular oranges. Remove the orange peel for drying. If you want to wash the orange peels thoroughly, you can soak them in light salt water for 10 minutes and then wash it. Place the washed orange peels in the sun to dry. The peels must be dried thoroughly, and retain the original shape when picked up. Next is the most critical step: steaming and drying each for three times. Steam the sun-dried orange peels in cool water for about 15 minutes. After steaming, turn off the fire and simmer for 5 minutes, then take the peels out and put them under the sun to continue drying.
In order to get rid of the odor of orange peels, you have to repeat this step three times. You can tear the sun-dried peels into small pieces to facilitate storage. It is best to store the peels in an airtight container in a dry and ventilated environment. Every six months, take the peels out of the sun again to prevent moisture return. It is completely done after 3 years.
