The Olympic Tower is the iconic building at the northernmost point of the central axis. It takes only 1min to get to the top floor by elevator. The top floor offers a 360° barrier-free view, making it ideal for overlooking the night and sunset of Beijing.
1. Feel a different perspective of the Winter Olympics
The Olympic Tower is located outside the south gate of Olympic Forest Park and consists of five separate tall towers. Several sightseeing towers are of different heights and staggered. Overlooking from above, they are in the shape of five rings, a symbol of the Olympic spirit. It is located on the central axis of Beijing, which overlooks the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube in the south, and looks at the Olympic Forest Park and Tiantongyuan in the north. During the Winter Olympic Games, the five towers are brightly decorated with 420,000 point light sources, turning them into a 360°visible carrier of light and shadow.
2. Visit the tower to see the Olympic torch exhibition
The Olympic Tower can be climbed to the top. The whole building looks like a "nail" from afar, which is in contrast with the surrounding architectural landscape. The first and second floors are regular exhibition halls, but the dome design is also very spacious. The regular mesh skylights make the space brighter, and the cold steel and concrete become warmer because of these skylights. There are currently free exhibitions in the tower. Torches from all the Olympic Games since 1936 can be seen here. Whether young or old, the visitors are easily attracted by the charm of the Olympics.
3. Go to the top of the tower to watch the sunset
No matter the season is, this is one of the best places to watch the sunset in Beijing. In late February, the sunset is less enthusiastic but still romantic. When night falls and the lights go on, this is the place to see the most prosperous night view of Beijing.
4. Go to the top of the tower to steal the moon
Many people have a deep empathy not only for the sunset but also for the moon. At a height of 245 meters, it is perfect to view the moon.
