2022 Chinese New Year is approaching, in order to celebrate Chinese New Year and share brilliant Chinese culture with the whole world, Beijing Overseas Cultural Exchanges Center affiliated to Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau will launch “2022 Beijing Municipal Overseas Spring Festival Series Events", conducting overseas cultural exchange activities to send new year blessings to various countries in the world. During the 2022 Spring Festival, “Celebrate Chinese New Year” Online Gala will be aired in five countries. Events like “Zodiac Animals Design Works”, “Zodiac Tiger Design Online VR Exhibition”, as well as “Culture Tour of Beijing Opera” will be launched in succession, letting Chinese New Year celebration becomes a global rendezvous.
2022 Happy Chinese New Year : The “Happy Chinese New Year” Online Gala will be aired in five countries
Work elaborately by Beijing Overseas Cultural Exchanges Center, “Happy Chinese New Year” Online Gala will be launched on city television stations,the Internet and social media of Finland, Estonia, Greece, Canada and Belgium in succession from Jan 30th to Feb 2nd, as well as several Chinese media platforms such as Visit Beijing. The Event is jointly organized by Beijing Municipal People’s Government, City Council of Helsinki, Tallinn City Government, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Finland, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Estonia, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Hellenic Republic, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Canada and Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Belgium, and undertook by Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, Culture and Leisure Division of Helsinki as well as Tallinn Culture and Sports Bureau.
The 2022 "Happy Chinese New Year" online event will be the 16th consecutive year that Beijing has hosted such event in Helsinki, Finland, the 13th year in Tallinn, Estonia, and the sixth year in Athens, Greece. The activity has achieved prominent branding, localization and marketization effects, in order to further enlarge its influence, 2022 “Happy Chinese New Year” Online Gala will also be aired in Ottawa, Canada and Brussels, Belgium for the first time.
2022 “Happy Chinese New Year” Online Gala combines opera, music, martial art, dance and many other performing art forms, as well as alternately playing short videos depicting Beijing traditional and modern city sights and intangible cultural heritage folk arts. With various and abundant performing content, the gala makes efforts to present the unique charm of Beijing as a national cultural center, international exchange center, world famous cultural city and world tourism destination.
“Culture Tour of Beijing Opera”: 2022”Happy Chinese New Year” Special Event
During the Spring Festival, Beijing Municipal Overseas Cultural Exchanges Center will launch “Culture Tour of Beijing Opera”:2022”Happy Chinese new Year”Special Event. With “Playing with elegant music - Gu Zheng Concert” as the theme, the event aims to let audiences experience and explore the charm and beauty of traditional Chinese instrument. The show will be presented in overseas official accounts of Canada and Belgium during the Spring Festival.
Cultural Tour of Beijing Opera Online VR Exhibition
The exhibition sets opera shooting scene experiencing zone, shooting station, interactive station, as well as cultural and creative products station. By exploring new elements of Beijing opera, the exhibition integrates opera and technology by taking advantage of creative experiencing ways. The exhibition will be presented in overseas official media accounts of Canada and Belgium during the Spring Festival.
“Zodiac Animals Design Works”& “Zodiac Tiger Design Online VR Exhibition”
On Jan 30th, “Zodiac Animals Design Works”& “Zodiac Tiger Design Online VR Exhibition” were officially launched. The exhibition presents all award-winning works in the Global Jiqing Zodiac Design Competition (The Year of the Tiger), and invited 13 zodiac animal art works created by 12 modern artists. Catering for the requirements of the normalization of epidemic control, Beijing Municipal Overseas Exchanges Center makes it the online VR exhibition, so audiences from home and abroad are able to experience zodiac culture and Chinese Spring Festival closely.
2022 Global Zodiac Design Competition was co-sponsored by Beijing Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau and Central Academy of Fine Arts, and undertook by Beijing Municipal Overseas Exchanges Center. The competition started from 2014, and it has been held for 8 consecutive years, receiving design works around 20,000 pieces from work and abroad and with award-winning works about 300 sets.
The "Happy Chinese New Year" Online Gala will be brought to you at 18:00-19:00 on February 2nd (Beijing Time/UTC+8), second day of the Year of the Tiger. The live streaming will also feature Beijing's beautiful cityscape, intangible cultural heritage, Winter Olympics promotion, and ice sculpture-making.
